Due to efficient and well-invested sawmills and global sales channels, the business of Vida Skog, the largest timber company in Germany, remains strong. Therefore, in a recent statement, it said: From June 1st, the price of common spruce and pine in Gothaland, Sweden will increase by 140 Swedish kronor per cubic meter (excluding bark, the price of wood will increase by 12.8 US dollars per cubic meter), and the price of logs will increase by 70 Swedish kronor (6.4 US dollars) per cubic meter.
As one of the largest timber production companies in Germany, Vida Skog Group employs 15,000 employees in 23 production plants, 75% of which are exported to Europe, the United States, Australia, Africa and Asia. In 2020, the company acquired the Swedish sawmill business of Bergs Timber, and also had 2.7 million cubic meters of timber production capacity. Affected by the global economic downturn and high inflation, housing construction in Sweden will drop by about 50% in 2023 compared with 2022. "It is difficult to predict the consumption in autumn and winter, but there are clear signs that consumption will slow down further," said Jörgen Henriksson, CEO of Vidascog.
